Meet Caroline Waters,

Board Certified Behavior Analyst and educator located in Portland, Maine.

Caroline has worked with children in a variety of capacities for the last 25 years. After earning her BA from the College of the Holy Cross, she taught in schools in Bozeman, MT, and both Lincoln and Boston, MA. She received her Masters in Education from Peabody College at Vanderbilt University in 2016. While at Vanderbilt, Caroline focused her coursework and fieldwork on Applied Behavior Analysis and early childhood special education. She published research on increasing play complexity in the journal Focus on Autism and Other Developmental Disabilities. Since receiving her board certification in 2017, Caroline has worked as a BCBA in both home and school environments.

Caroline believes all behaviors tell stories. Children, especially young children, engage in a spectrum of behaviors to communicate their wants and needs. By using a functional and compassionate approach, she works collaboratively with all stakeholders to support children in learning socially adept behaviors as well as vital skills to foster independence, resilience and confidence.
